The
revolution in the heart of the historic center in Rome will start on April 1st,
but this time it's not a joke.
With the switching on of the six new electronic gates, the Trident Ztl will
effectively come into force: an area with particular traffic restrictions,
where access and parking are permitted only to holders of A1 Ztl permit -
therefore the usual ones are not valid of the Ztl of the historic center - and
to the special categories.
The limitations - which, unlike other areas of this type also apply to
two-wheel vehicles - have theoretically been in force since 2014, when they
were introduced by the Ignazio Marino administration.
But after years of little or no application, entrusted only to the controls of
the city police, from April the trap of the new and hidden electronic eyes will
start, and the music will inevitably change.
ROADS
The six new gates in via di Ripetta (crossroad with Via dell'Oca), Via dei
Pontefici (Augusto Imperatore Square), Via Condotti (crossroad with Largo
Goldoni), Via di Propaganda (crossroad with Via Capo le case),
Via di San
Sebastianello (crossroad with Viale della Trinità dei Monti) and Via del
Gambero (crossroad with Via delle Convertite) will be active from the first
day of April,
with a month of pre-exercise in which they will work but
without raising fines.
An activation that sees a 4-year delay: in fact, according to the original
resolution, the electronic eyes should have started the service on 7 January
2015.
The Trident will therefore be off-limits for the unauthorized from 06:30
to 19 from Monday to Friday and from 10:00 to 19:00 on Saturday, excluding
holidays.
Another fundamental novelty is that the cameras will also sanction motorcycles
and motorbike of non-residents, which will therefore remain permanently out of
the Trident.
STOP
During the Ztl closing times only valid pass holders can stay in the area,
where the possibility of parking on the road is expressly indicated. The
residents have at their disposal 280 places reserved between Via di Ripetta,
Ripetta Promenade,
Lungotevere in Augusta, Viale della Trinità dei Monti,
Piazza della Trinità dei Monti, Via Gregoriana, Viale Gabriele D'Annunzio and
Augusto Imperatore square.
THE SUMMIT
Yesterday the last technical meeting between the Capitoline Mobility
department, the I Municipio and the Mobility Agency on the road signs to be
affixed and the information to give to the citizens on the news.
Parallel with
the turning on of the Trident gates, however, the Capitol wants to speed up the
extension at 7 pm of the Ztl closing time of the historic center,
which will
start in conjunction with the arrival of the first new buses that Atac will use
on central lines of public transport.
